Ethan Briggs, MSW, LISW-S

First, I want to thank you for looking into mental health support. Trying to find a therapist is daunting and finding the right match can feel overwhelming (I've been there, I get it.) I hope those who I work with feel safe and confident to begin the process of coping and healing with whatever concern you might bring into my office. I will work to help you feel safe to bring your true self into my office (snacks, comfy clothes, and laughter are encouraged.) I work with my clients to utilize strengths they already have in order to manage emotions and the everyday stresses of life, while learning new, lifelong skills to take with them for future needs.

I am a strong believer in utilizing evidenced based interventions, but I also very much value the importance of human connection and the human experience to make progress in therapy. I utilize EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and CPT (Cognitive Processing Therapy) to assist with trauma related disorders, as well as CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Mindfulness, Client-Centered, and Solution Focused Therapy to assist in anxiety and other life transition concerns.

My areas of focus for treatment come from my personal and professional experiences. I primarily focus on anxiety and trauma related disorders, including those dealing with religious trauma/deconstruction. I have training (Certified Financial Social Worker) in assisting clients with financial challenges/concerns, which are often rooted in anxiety and trauma related events. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community I recognize the need to find therapists with shared lived experience and strive to support others in the community with their specific needs related to their identity.

When I am not in the office, I enjoy spending time with my husband, friends, and family (including my 2 dogs and cat, yes I can show you pictures.) I also enjoy traveling, going to concerts, naps, finding the best food in the city, playing volleyball, and, when Ohio weather permits, being outside.
